Impact Of Manpower Training and Development On Organizational Performance
In today's competitive business environment, improved organizational productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness are critical organizational goals that must be pursued (Nwaeke and Obiekwe, 2017). Manpower is an organization's most valuable possession and without the machines, materials, and even money are pointless. The organization's growth is driven by the growth of the individuals who comprise the organization. By enhancing an individual's ability to contribute optimally to the organization's development, training can alleviate a range of human resource challenges that obstruct an organization's optimal production (Olaniyan and Ojo, 2008).
The quality of the people who must turn available inputs into required outputs in order to meet the organization's objectives is a significant aspect. Operational employees must possess the appropriate skills, knowledge, abilities, and competencies to accomplish this. Individual and organizational effectiveness are enhanced through training which is effectively an investment in manpower (Kenney and Donnelly, 1972).
There was strong resistance to public-sector training until recently based on the belief that workers employed on a merit system must have already been trained for their employment. It suggested that the initial personnel selection was inaccurate. This assumption was rejected when the necessity of training in both the private and governmental sectors became evident. With the increasing complexity of the workplace environment, rapid changes in enterprises, and technological developments, the need for training and development of employees to address the challenges has become more prominent (Okotoni and Erero, 2005).
Workers who
have not been trained have a tendency to stick to what they were taught the
very first time they take over the job. They are always hesitant of doing
things differently because they are afraid that something will go wrong and
they will not be able to handle the risk.
It is impossible to overstate the importance of companies providing training
opportunities for their employees as training is essential when the
organization's overall business goals and objectives include greater
productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Manpower can be regarded as agents
of change and management's ability to deploy them successfully will lead to the
achievement of the organization's desired goals and objectives (Ologunowa,
Akintunde and Adu, 2015).
Manpower training and development is a program designed specifically for employees of a company to assist them to reach their goals. To achieve these goals, the workforce will need appropriate training and development, including on-the-job and off-the-job training. Work instructions, mentoring, demonstrations, and conferences are examples of methods (Nwankwo, 2018). One of the most essential roles of the management and HR officer is to guarantee that employees are assisted in gaining the necessary skills and that those who already have them are assisted in keeping updated. Employees who have been trained react to changes more actively and quickly, and they accept them more naturally. In order to gain cooperation from their coworkers, they also develop inner trust and understanding (Nwaeke and Obiekwe, 2017).
It is strongly recommended that firm HR managers seek expert advice when determining their training and development requirements. The objective is to save time and money by just providing what is truly needed and directly related to the needs of the workforce. When the company has accomplished this, employee training and development requirements are achieved, and firms are better positioned to perform (Nwankwo, 2018).

Training and Development improve employees knowledge, chance to learn their job and ability to perform in high. As the result organization's long term productivity and profitability go up, innovation and creativity bloom within the organization and gain competitive edge over other industry peers. An untrained worker is a legal responsibility to a corporation as new strategies and techniques are being advanced daily to assist agencies to innovate and project their competition in the sport of business. A corporation that fails to educate and expand its workforce, or that lays little emphasis on its far encouraging the obsolescence and inflexibility of the employees. ReplyDeleteThe success of an organization greatly depends on the quality of the people who work there to achieve such organizational objectives. The level of their skills, knowledge, abilities, capabilities, and expertise of the employees on the main, lies in the quality of training and development received by the employees. Today, very profound emphasis is placed by organizations on the training and development of employees and this has an implicit emphasis on productivity as an organization that fails to lay serious emphasis on training and development is preparing for obsolesce of its employees, and inflexibility to adapt to our fast-paced changing environment (Nwachukwu, 2000). Thus, the survival, growth, and productivity of organizations would be difficult to come by in the absence of timely and effective employee training and development.
Training and development of employees is a job function that can have a big impact on an organization's overall effectiveness and profitability.
